Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Why don't the plotting queries actually produce plots?
A: The EMU Bioinformatics Web Service is a research tool, and as such, the data are much more useful to the user than is an arbitrary representation of these data. The user is free to graph the results using whatever tools he or she wishes, or to explore the results by whatever other means. The service is designed to be flexible. - Q: My particular need is not met by the existing set of queries.
How difficult would it be to add a new query?
A: Once the migration of EMU is complete, we will begin to add functionality, with new queries and (hopefully) new types of data to analyze. In the meantime, we welcome suggestions and opportunities to collaborate in the construction of new analyses. - Q: How should I cite the EMU Web Service?
A: The main reference for EMU is the paper describing the Neurogadgets Inc. Bioinformatics Web Service in FEMS Microbiology Letters. Certain queries have specific publications associated with them; please visit our list of publications citing the Web Service (coming soon) for further details. - Q: So that I can trust the results, is your source code available for
inspection?
A: We appreciate your concern. Please contact us, and we will provide as much information to you as possible, likely including portions of the source code upon which your concern is based.
