Description of the genome query for

ORFs found in a set of genomes

For each ORF in the chosen genome, or for each ORF in the "Results from my last query,"
a search is made in each target genome from the user's defined set to see if that ORF has a match (or a reciprocal best match, depending on the option chosen) within that target genome. A list of the various subsets of genomes from the defined set, the number of ORFs matching that subset pattern, and the identity of those ORFs, is then returned to the user.

This query might be useful for testing such hypotheses as that presented by E. Bapteste and S. Gribaldo (2003) Trends Genet. in press, where one wishes to find shared ancestral losses of genes.
